| Who Shouldn't Come | |
Male native speakers of English under 35 years of age have the inside track on cram school jobs.
Students at THMU discuss a problem in class. |
If you are planning to teach English in a cram school, the following people will have increased difficulty finding work:
anyone over 35, anyone not a native speaker of English (but who is European). |
Very great difficulty will be experienced by
anyone over 50, and anyone from a country outsideof Europe where English is not the native tongue... |
| Taiwanese favor people from (in order): America, Canada, UK, Australia, New Zealand, South Africa (any color acceptable), Western Europe, other whites, people of color. If you have an advanced degree such as a Masters or Ph.D, none of this applies, because you can get a university job, and those are a little more color-blind. |
| Additionally, if you have children over 5 or children with handicaps, you should probably think seriously about whether you should come. See my kids page for further details. |
