Really? I can’t get search for most places in English or Chinese working. Maybe Tainan isn’t supported yet.

A most interesting development. I’ve been wanting that for a while.

And Taipei is in full Tongyong!

First the disclaimer: I am not fond of Microsoft or Bill Gates. But Microsoft’s Live Search provides the Taiwan map in English, which is probably more helpful for people who cannot read Chinese.

Damn, that’s great! Now there are only two things left to fix:
* Get rid of that piss-terrible Tongyong
and
* Update the satellite photos - apparently according to Google 101 is still under construction!

>>Get rid of that piss-terrible Tongyong
Why not, and get Wade-Giles the preferred standard instead, for the sake of consistency. Pinyin is a standard for Chinese territory and Chinese nationals, hence do not belong here, period.

FYI, Taipei city’s official romanization is Hanyu Pinyin since around 2003-2005, whether the rest of Taiwan likes it or not. I heard Taichung is in the process of such a change as well. Michael, perhaps you could clarify.
The problem with Tongyong pinyin is that it was created out of political squabbling over China.
