Breakfast.Fried dough stuff, soybean milk,hot sauce. | The very best time to come, jobwise, is in late August -- early September. The new school year is starting, many foreign teachers have returned home for grad school and schedules are being rearranged. Another good time to come is in January, for the same reason. The beginning of summer is also a good time, but at many schools your summer schedule may not be the same as your fall schedule, so things may get complicated when the fall begins. |

Snacks patiently await customers at your local 7-11. | However, taxwise, the best time to come is prior to June 30. This is because if you are in Taiwan for more than 180 days in a tax year, you pay 6% tax. Twenty percent is taken out of your pay check, and then the following year, in December, you recieve a refund equal to 60% of your taxes paid, thus reducing the effective tax rate to 6%. |
